Welcome to LMS Wakefield

League News

League registration is now open for the 2013 season and teams can be entered in the World Championships held at Lords this Summer. With a fantastic season last year there is no better time to join one of the fastest growing amateur sports competitionss anywhere in the world. Fingers crossed global warming is kinder to us this year and we get a few weeks of sun to play in!

We are pleased to say that the first round of the league got off to a flying start at Pledwick C.C. on Sunday.

However before the season starts we have a few dates for your diary:

  • April 19th @ 7:30pm - We are hosting a pre-season get together at the Fox & Hounds Pub, Newmillerdam. We have invited players from last season back for a few beers and a bit of live music. There will be a an LMS Wakefield up-date including our project to secure a big new venue, we will be fomally announcing our new league sponsor on the night and giving info on how to register for the World Champs if you are interetsed. New players and interested parties are more than welcome to attend to get a taste of the social side of LMS.
  • April 21st - LMS Wakefield is proud to say that we are hosting the ECB Cricket Factory @ The J32 Shopping Centre, Glasshoughton, Castleford. This is a fantastic piece of kit that allows people of all ages to experience cricket in a safe environment. There will be a strong LMS presence at the event and we are hoping to add a couple of extra teams to our leagues this season. Any help from current players would be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations to Ossett Casuals who were crowned the best side in Wakefield & Kirklees following success in the Wakefield South League and also the Johny Hodge Cup. The Casuals held off the Pledwick Pirates to clinch the Legue Title and then beat the Mirfield Musketeers in a winner takes all contest. Following the success in the summer the Casuals entered the England Champions League. Unfortunately they where knocked out in at the West & South Yorkshire stage of the competition, where they came up against very good opposition in the form of the Barnsley Griffins. Can the Ossett Casuals go one step further next year and make it to the Finals Weekend of the England Champions League?
