League News

Congratulations to Maritimes Malinga's Slingers who after only playing 7 Last Man Stands games found themselves Wirral Champions after beating Neston Shrimpers in a thrilling game. With bad light being a factor the game was reduced to 18 overs a side. Neston batting first posted what looked a massive 162 off their 18 overs with 50s for David Hurst and Andrew Clarke. The Slinger's had the worst possible start losing Sockalingham Mathansundar 1st ball. They recovered quickly with Charles Gerera and Thisal Jayawardane smashing quick-fire 50s. As the light began to fade, Maritime where edging closer to victory with 4 needed off the last ball. Gerera returned to the crease and hit a straight 4 much to the delight of the watching crowd.

Both sides qualified for the North West Regional Championships but unfortunately came up against two very strong sides from Manchester and both were knocked out.

League registration is now open for the 2013 season, wehre teams can be entered in the World Championships held at Lords this summer.
