Last Man Stands Canada is working with Sport for Life (https://sportforlife.ca/)
LMS Canada DEI Foundation recently started working with Sport for life (https://sportforlife.ca/) to get involved in Government of Canada’s proposed Community Sport for All Initiative (CSAI).
With LMS’s main motto “It's Anybody’s game”, we are in a mission to provide a cricket format that is a perfect fit for both the world today and tomorrow, which encourages more people to play (and return to playing) cricket and leads to the development of cricket at grassroots where the key to sustainability lies. We believe that cricket, its values, disciplines, sportsmanship, and camaraderie, has the unique capacity to connect us and carry us forward to a better future for generations to follow. We are dedicated to support targeted equity-deserving groups (EDGs) through organized sport to increase participation that is consistent with modern lifestyle by removing barriers particularly amongst newcomers to Canada, women, people of color, indigenous, 2SLGBTQQIA+, and amateur youth cricketers. It is our belief that collaboration within and beyond our organization with regional, national, and global bodies (such as Sport for Life) is necessary to achieve this mission.
We are honored to work collaboratively with Sport for Life and possibly co-create with them throughout the proposed initiative to improve the quality of sport and physical activity for the EDGs that we identified. We have a serious strategic alignment with Sport for Life (see the table below) as we also aim to support EDGs by removing barriers for participation in cricket, such as games and training delivered at low or no cost. As one of Sport for Life’s community partners, we have seen firsthand the ways in which fostering strong community partnerships and building robust capacity to deliver quality sport opportunities has contributed to systemically changing our community’s sport and physical activity ecosystem.
As such, we strongly believe in Sport for Life’s proposed two-pronged approach to increasing inclusive and accessible sport and physical activity and we are poised and interested to contribute in the following ways:
