Daniel Sly – South African Legend on the Rise
We’re excited to introduce our newest LMS Legend from South Africa: Daniel Sly! A key player in the Joburg leagues, Daniel has consistently demonstrated his cricketing talent and love for the game, earning his spot in LMS’s league of Legends. With a batting average of 50.12 and a total of 10477 runs in 383 matches, he is a standout performer who continues to make waves in LMS cricket.
Daniel’s favourite LMS moment? Touring Cape Town for the 2023 World Champs! Daniel proudly recalls the Cup Playoff victory against the Delhi Lions. Alongside teammate James Nelson, the pair built a remarkable partnership, both scoring half-centuries, and the match was highlighted by two stunning home runs. The icing on the cake was Brian Ellis’s winning home run for 2 Liedjies!
Known for his versatility on the field, Daniel has represented several teams including Joburg Weekend Warriors, Ooosh, and 2 Liedjies. He’s also led the Sandton Sluggers to the finals twice in the SA Super Series. Phenomenal achievements and contributions during his 6 year LMS career..
When it comes to LMS Cricket, Daniel appreciates its unique mix of competition and camaraderie. “It’s the perfect format,” he says, “giving players of all skill levels the chance to compete while enjoying the sport without taking up their entire weekend.” He also values the global friendships he’s built through the game, which is what sets LMS apart for him.
