Congratulations to LMS Legend Josh Helderskard! (known to many as Josh Genner).
Josh is a real success story of LMS. Debuting back in 2014 with one of LMS Australia's most loved teams, the Argie Bargies!
Josh has been one of the most improved players we've seen in LMS. In his first few years he played some Div 1 with the CBWO-WIB but mostly lower grades with sides such as Johnny Cash Memorial. As Josh improved, he started playing more regularly in the top grades before really finding a home with Enjoy The Ment. Josh was part of the Enjoy The Ment side that won back-to-back LMS Sydney titles in 2019. Josh also featured in Enjoy The Ment's World Championship campaign in Sydney in 2019 losing to the Heritage Cricketers from Bangladesh in the Quarter Finals.
LMS started in Australia in 2009. Since that time only 45 players have reached the 10,000 run mark. With Josh starting out in 2014 he's done some serious catching up to be a part of this group. He sits at 35th in Australia and is rapidly closing in on the Sydney top 10 run scorers list. Josh has scored over 1,000 runs in a calendar year for the 6th straight year and is on target to have his most prolific year with the bat. His continual improvement with the bat shows in his year-on-year stats, averaging over 52 for the last 3 years with a 150+ strike rate.
Josh's bowling has also improved remarkably. In his early years he would average anywhere from 30-70 with an economy of 7-9.3. Josh's average now tends to dip below 30 each year and his economy continues to hover in the low 7's. His economy hasn't been above 8 since 2018. Given the scores in LMS continue to increase, the fact he has been able to reduce his economy speaks to his continual improvement. Josh is on target for 50 wickets in a year for the first time. With 42 under his belt, it's his best ever year. He now sits inside the top 20 wicket takers in Sydney!
Josh has played for over 70 LMS teams. He will be known to many of the competition, particularly in the Eastern Suburbs along with Manly, North Sydney and Ryde. Josh's willingness to lend a hand to a team short has led to him being so well known, particularly at Moore Park, and many friends in LMS. Josh is one of 6 players to have reached 100 matches with Sydney's most capped side, Johnny Cash Memorial.
Congratulations, Josh! It's been a pleasure having you in LMS and we hope you crack 50 wickets this year over the next couple of months!!
