Who are the 36 teams competing for the World Champs 2022 title?

1. MASAGAMY - SOUTH AFRICA

The No.1 world-ranked LMS team, Jo’burg’s Masagamy will arrive with a very strong outfit in terms of batting, bowling and keeping. The team, managed by Daniel Stone, will be feeling confident going into the competition.

2. REBELS - SOUTH AFRICA

World-ranked No.2 team, Rebels, is one of the most familiar teams on the LMS circuit having been established way back in 2007 in Joburg. Previous winners of SA Champs, Joburg 1&2 Sat league & SA Open, the South African team will be looking to capitalise on the skills of a strong bowling & batting outfit.

3. BLACK EAGLES - ENGLAND

Est. in 2014, Black Eagles, the world’s ranked 4th LMS team, is led by captain and LMS Tour regular Nav Ali. Black Eagles were semi-finalists in the 2021 England Nationals, and boast the World's 3rd best batsman (Ranked 2nd in England) and the national ranked 13th best keeper. 

4. NENGAYLEES - NEW ZEALAND

The 2022 NZ National Champs team is ranked 8th best in the world. The Auckland Division 1 squad, with power players like Nikhil Ghallyan and bowler, Adnan ( Eddy) Ahmed, will be aiming to bring their best game to Cape Town.

5. CPI CHALLENGERS - SOUTH AFRICA

Ranked 10th in SA, CPI Challengers was the Bloem Division 1 league runners-up. The Bloemfontein team comes with strength in bowling with Lucas Boucher, Mike Otto and Corne Booyzen and batting.  They will be aiming to travel the journey home from Cape Town with this year's WC trophy!

6. TSHWANE OLD BOYS - SOUTH AFRICA

Winners of the Tshwane Premier Division 1 in 2021, this South Africa team, formed in 2019, is ranked 9th in South Africa and will be making their World Champs debut!  Key weapon - Johan Els.  These Old Boys will be hoping to demonstrate some mastery and return to Tshwane jubilant!

7. YANKEE ROYALS (CLUB 40) - USA

2021 League Champs, the New York squad is well known in the LMS international community - Winners of 2022 Barbados Open, 2019 Houston and Miami Opens, and Plate Runners Up in the 2017 World Champs. They will be hoping to keep their winning streak in Cape Town with players such as Susanta Ghosh, USA's No.1 Ranked Bowler.

8. LAILA CC - BANGLADESH

2020/2021 Winners of the Ace Dhaka Cup Championship & the ACE Premier Dhaka League as well as the 2019 Sydney LMS World Champs Plate Winners, the Dhaka outfit currently sits at No.2 ranked team nationally.  With gun players such as Bangladesh's No.1 Batsman and No.3 Bowler, they will surely feel confident on arrival in Cape Town.  

9. INGLORIOUS LEGENDS - PAKISTAN

Inglorious Legends, Pakistan’s No.2 ranked LMS team, were the winners of last season's Pepsi LMS Div A Finals in Lahore. A strong outfit with some of Pakistan’s strongest bowlers, batsmen and keepers.  Should make the competition very exciting.

10. 2 LIEDJIES - SOUTH AFRICA

Runners Up in the Cape Town Super Cup 2021 and ranked 17th nationally, Joburg’s 2 Liedjies will arrive with the world’s 10th best batsman and 15th best keeper. 

11. BMC DIKDORINGS - SOUTH AFRICA

BMC Dikdorings, runners-up of the SA Champs 2021 Plate, has claimed many regional titles over the years including Roodepoort Sunday Division 1 winners, since their first game in 2012. Outfit includes gun player, Pieter Booysen, No.6 national ranked batsman and 19th world ranked bowler.

12. DAXINA DESTROYERS - SOUTH AFRICA

With 265 games under their belt, Joburg’s Daxina Destroyers, have been a solid team since 2011 and know LMS inside and out. With LMS Legends in their squad and some decent all-rounders, experience will serve them well.

13. BRANDY & BOEPS - SOUTH AFRICA

Another long-standing team, Brandy & Boeps celebrated their 8th LMS year in 2022 and after being league champions in 2 out of 3 years, the Cape Town side will be hoping to have home advantage and upgrade the silverware at the World Champs.

14. MPVP - SOUTH AFRICA

Another Western Cape side ready to take on some of the global LMS mighties.  Skipper, batsman and keeper, Jeandre Robertson, will be leading from the front onto the World Champs stage to showcase local talent.

15. CPI MASTERS - SOUTH AFRICA

This Bloemfontein team debuted only this year but were runners-up in last season's Division 2 league. Ably led by Franchise Owner Arthur Kruger, CPI Masters have depth in all areas 

16. OOOSH - SOUTH AFRICA

The Sandton side is a familiar feature of the national tournament circuit with more than a couple of LMS Legends on the team sheet.  If the keepers perform to strength, this could make for some interesting games.

17. SHOFIRE LIONS - SOUTH AFRICA

One of our newer teams, Shofire Lions hail from the recently launched LMS Pietermaritzburg in South Africa. Led by Doshen Naidoo who is also the LMS PMB franchise owner.

18. KAMIKAZE BUMBLEBEES - SOUTH AFRICA

The Western Cape Kamikaze Bumblebees, having sampled SA Champs this year, will now take on LMS World Champs. Winners of the Cape Town Cow Corner Cup 2021 and league runners-up in the last 2 years, they’ll be hoping to make the most of local support to bring on the wins. 

19. TECH REPUBLIC - BANGLADESH

The heavyweights from Dhaka made it to the Quarter Finals at WC2017 in Cape Town. The 2017 Bangladesh National Winners always find their way to the very end, usually with an explosive player or two in the ranks - Bangladesh’s No.1 Bowler, No.2 Keeper and No.3 Batsman all in their team 

20. DHAKA WARRIORS - BANGLADESH

Making their first appearance in the LMS World Champs this year! The Warriors have arguably been one of the best Bangladesh teams in the last few years having won the BD National Champs in 2018 and Dhaka Champs 19/20. They come with a formidable squad, and will have more than a few game-changers in his arsenal.

21. HERITAGE CRICKETERS - BANGLADESH

One of LMS's biggest globe trotters, this team, led by Ziaul Alam Rony, will be making their second appearance at the World Champs. Having lost the semi-final by the slightest of margins in Sydney in 2019, Heritage Cricketers will be looking to go all the way this time. A formidable team with some great all-rounders and an explosive batting line up, they will surely be one of the teams to watch out for. 

22. SHARETRIP - BANGLADESH

The former World No.1 side made it to the Quarter Final at World Champs 2019 in Sydney and they will almost certainly fight for the ultimate glory this time. The Bangladeshi outfit includes some of the best players in the country.

23. POPATS - PAKISTAN

Ranked 8th nationally, this Lahore side has been the league winner for the last 2 years.  Watch out for the bowlers and keepers, including the No.2 bowler in Pakistan, who come to World Champs ready to deliver.

24. WEAKEST LINK - PAKISTAN

Led by skipper and LMS Legend, all-rounder Zain Ul Abideen Sohail, the Lahore outfit will be hoping to have continued success at the World Champs after being crowned league champions this year. With keeping and batting strength, Zain will be looking for an opportunity to add to his 17.5k career runs and 2 centuries.

25. WOLF PACK - PAKISTAN

Wolf Pack, champions of Lahore's Pepsi Night Warriors Spring & Summer 2022 4 Star Div B are currently the 13th national LMS team. They have Pakistan’s 6th best bowler on the team.   

26. BMC VICTORIANS - BANGLADESH

BMC Victorians took the Dhaka Premier League by storm this season, and were crowned league champions, toppling all the league heavyweights. Led by captain cool, Rubayat Sheik Giasuddin, along with one of the best all-rounders in the country in Rayhan Kabir Mithu, BMC continues to surprise.

27. TORONTO RENEGADES - PAKISTAN

The Lahore side was the Pepsi LMS Night Warriors B Spring 2022 champs and has been playing since 2019. Skipper and gun batsman, Waqas Mir, is also the 2nd best keeper in Pakistan. 

28. 3 SHORT CCC - AUSTRALIA

The OG Canberra LMS team, a regular at tournaments around Australia since 2010, 3 Short CCC strives to live up to the culture of LMS on and off the field whether it’s the local comp in Canberra or touring the world. Artfully skippered by the experience LMS Legend, Sam Lang

29. COMILLA WARRIORS - ENGLAND

Comilla Warriors, 2021 London Regional Finalists will arrive in Cape Town led by England's No.8 keeper & handy batsman, Aminul Shihan.  

30. PINK PANTHERS - ENGLAND

The Pink Panthers, 2021 England Champions come armed with some genuine batting and bowling depth, the men in pink will be looking to go deep in the tournament under the stewardship of Dave Hurst and the local knowledge of Jordan Collier. Look out for them out and about around Cape Town in the evening as well.

31. ROYAL LONDON CC - ENGLAND

London Regional finalists in 2022, and having made it to England National Finals last year, the Royal London CC, have gun player, Hitesh Naik in their armoury as they strive for victory in Cape Town.

32. TERLING PANDAS - ENGLAND

The Essex side has been playing LMS since 2017 and excited to join the World Champs fun after England National Knockout in 2021. Batsman, Alex Taylor will be hoping to increase his tally of 50s and catches in Cape Town.

33. PUKTOON WARRIORS - SCOTLAND

The Glasgow side is LMS Scotland’s hope for World Champs recognition this December.  The Puktoon Warriors is the 4th best team in Scotland and will be banking on batsman and keeper, Aamir Shahzad, to set the pace for his side.

34. NEW YORK THUNDERBOLTS - USA

The second USA team in the competition, the New York Thunderbolts are excited to take part in their first major LMS tournament.  With strength in bowling, they will be aiming to worry oppo batsmen. 

35. THE ABUSEMENT PARKS - AUSTRALIA

The first LMS team to ever play 500 games, and with a bunch of regional and local events under their belt since their first game back in 2009, The Abusement Parks and their signature black/orange kit, will be landing in Cape Town expecting solid performances from the likes of Joel Borman, their star keeper

36. ALL STARS SINGAPORE - SINGAPORE

The only Singapore team in the tournament, All Stars Singapore has been a league contender since LMS was launched there 5 years ago. World Champs 2022 is the first global tournament for this side.
